What is Bernd’s opinion on mass consumerism

I like sturdy stuff that's made with intention and can be repaired and last a long time

>>12675 >>12684 I’m sorry but I make banners with love and care. The intention for this was not for it to become a banner. I will probably not make a banner for .org at least not yet you can turn this into a banner if you want. I much prefer banners that showcase why .org is the best, this is way too low effort for me to be my first banner here. Besides, you don’t need me making banners, you have people already. Our dear Sabine called some study BS and as a result lost her affiliation with the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy. What does physicist-Bernd think? Is she correct about the state of soyence?

While I was a student, around 2010 or maybe a little earlier, I stumbled upon a blog by a young German postdoc working in the USA. I just recently remembered that blog, and it clicked, yep, that blogger was Sabine Hossenfelder.
>>12434 You are Italian. You wouldn't understand, because Italians never speak, they only yell.
>>10985 this is really funny and proves shes just a smart idiot, imagine someone told her "no I WILL live MY life as if there is not free will, I MAKE that decision" Smart idiots are those who can be brilliant in a field crunching numbers and recognizing patterns they were told to recognize. So no wonder that everything is bullshit science for her since shes trained for that, like a bloodhound. The moment she tries to make an innovative claim it ends up being the most shallow contrarian statement even. You dont even have to form a syllogism to point out how ridiculous it is to REQUEST from an agent you claim has no free will to ACT like they have free will?
>>12788 I was serious. You wouldn't understand, because you are from a culture that uses their screaming voice for speaking. Turning the volume down won't change it, it's not about the volume. It's about her screaming. Not >>12430 btw.

I watched this movie and I was very disappointed by the ending. Why American cinema is unable to have plot twists? This dude travels to Neptune to meet his long missing father who spent decades looking for alien life and discovered nothing. Then he goes back to earth now after learning to love and be loved. It would be amazing if the ending was a scene of an American military science lab where two people are dissecting an alien, and one said "he came back", then other asks "did he retrieve the data?".

>>12688 Bernd heard about this movie, that it is like Apocalypse Now. Travel into dangerzone, meer crazy guy, come back. Then he watched the movie and it was like that. Prejudiced by hearing this comparison upfront? Sure.
>>12734 We could become friends t. disliked all Nolan movies (yes, even Memento) except Dunkirk and Oppenheimer, where historical events prevented him from deploying his usual bullshit
>>12769 I actually like Memento, imo it's the one that actually holds up on rewatches. Didn't watch the other two because after Interstellar I lost all interest in any Nolan flick.

>>12688 >Why American cinema is unable to have plot twists? Because it's made by americans. Stop exposing yourself it american "culture".

How to explain that Saxony and Thuringia in Germany have such a high pisa score and IQ, while having signifincaly lower GDP per Capita/income vs west and south states?

If an Indian god betrayed your Arab god and destroyed your civilisation and then took over Sumeru and the Indian followers of that god gave everybody smartphones that were data mining them then and sent insane immigrants to your little Arab village then surely it would be reasonable to resurrect your desert god and take back control of Sumeru from the Indians? I think so.
Indra lives atop mount Sumeru with all his hoes, king of the Heaven of 33 Gods
If Indians are able to resurrect their felled god, why not do so immediately? Are they... no further questions.
>>12481 No wait, the other way around, you get the gist.
>>12481 Not sure, probably because they are being monitored and controlled by the Indians. >>12480 Huh? Sumeru is a real place? Interesting. Well it's real as in it's real fictional not real and actually existed obviously.

>>12679 Sadly, it does. I think for foreigners, depicting medieval europe as it looks in contemporary depictions is just natural, and it is the best approach. For western media it seems to be impossible to emancipate from the grimdark, cruel optic that just was in fashion for a while. As a reenactor, I sometimes get asked if my clothes are not a little too clean, too colorful, if my gear shouldnt be rusty, dented and worn down. People just cant imagine that people were able to dye cloth, wash themselves and take care of their precious gear. For whatever reason, none of these people have trouble imagining the old greeks, romans, the people of the renaissance and basically every non-european culture as colorful and well-groomed.

>>12679 Japs never really got infected with the medieval filter virus which was started by Monty Python afaik. Anyway, High/Late Medieval enthusiast suffering is nothing against the shit Early Medieval fans have to go through. Vikings really did a number on historical perceptions, even worse than the horned helmets of the 19th Century I think.
>>12685 It's not. Most anime are way more elaborative and accurate then your standard netflix shit.
>>12683 >Vikings really did a number on historical perceptions, even worse than the horned helmets of the 19th Century I think. I am not even into early medieval stuff, but this thing makes me so sad. I wonder if the perception will ever recover.

What is your opinion on Gothic Revival architecture (especially for churches)? Is it based or cringe?
27 posts and 7 images omitted.
>>11399 That is a nice opinion from someone whos cities do not have grounded 80 years ago. You can argue all day how neoclassicalism = poser, I dont know anyone who wouldnt prefer a good looking posercity over the dogshit architecture that we have used for quick rebuilding of cities.
>>11552 its chinese game >>11549 too bulky on pic one, literally looks like a chinese fake. I mean gothic churches all have insane geometric proportions
>>11549 Can you go inside? I'm still mad that the churches in Kuttenberg KC:D2 weren't enterable. In the final DLC we'll get a monastery, at least.
>>11219 >Is it based or cringe? It is much better than current post-modern goyslop architecture without any beauty or vision.
It looks fake, it feels fake. It is fake. You simply cant recreate the aura and feeling of old architecture. Better not even attempt it.
