Those weird black things look weak, I could beat them up easily.

Jan van Eyck isn't too shabby either.
>>12665 Love the colors! Hugo van der Goes also made a pretty one, although I am not sure about the height differences in the perspective.
I wish people who make movies, games, shows and so on that are set in medieval europe would get their inspiration from these colorful, beautiful paintings instead of the grimdark bullshit thats warping our perception of these times since the 80s
>>12671 You might enjoy Pentiment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfYryKWkNfw
>>12671 Yes, these are excellent visual sources. 15th Century Tyrolean/Swabian woodcarvings showing the knightly fashion of the time.
>>12672 I saw some screenshots of this. It feels like slowly, very slowly, the images shifts back to a more realistic depiction. Sadly only in games, but yeah, Pentiment, KCD, Manor Lords and so on do a good job. >>12673 Love the first one. I have a pretty similar armor, with a scale fauld and a tabard. Also love the third one. He looks so melancholic. A true Bernd.
>>12674 I love houpelandes too, unfortunately there aren't any in KC:D because of hardware limitations.
>>12677 Just give it another 10 years and we might see just the most sublime houppelandes, tabards, chaperons, and especially landsknecht clothing.
>>12671 Anime does a better job I feel.
>>12679 Sadly, it does. I think for foreigners, depicting medieval europe as it looks in contemporary depictions is just natural, and it is the best approach. For western media it seems to be impossible to emancipate from the grimdark, cruel optic that just was in fashion for a while. As a reenactor, I sometimes get asked if my clothes are not a little too clean, too colorful, if my gear shouldnt be rusty, dented and worn down. People just cant imagine that people were able to dye cloth, wash themselves and take care of their precious gear. For whatever reason, none of these people have trouble imagining the old greeks, romans, the people of the renaissance and basically every non-european culture as colorful and well-groomed.

>>12679 Japs never really got infected with the medieval filter virus which was started by Monty Python afaik. Anyway, High/Late Medieval enthusiast suffering is nothing against the shit Early Medieval fans have to go through. Vikings really did a number on historical perceptions, even worse than the horned helmets of the 19th Century I think.
>>12685 It's not. Most anime are way more elaborative and accurate then your standard netflix shit.
>>12683 >Vikings really did a number on historical perceptions, even worse than the horned helmets of the 19th Century I think. I am not even into early medieval stuff, but this thing makes me so sad. I wonder if the perception will ever recover.
