What is your opinion on Gothic Revival architecture (especially for churches)? Is it based or cringe?
Based but doesnt seem to be a very popular trend
I like them.
Gothic is the definitive architecture for churches.
Based, works for town halls as well
>>11219 Neither. Because the only time I can see myself using "based" it's followed by "on".
>>11239 That's a completely different meaning though. "Based" comes from freebased, as in the opposite of an acid.
5/5 breddy good
>>11240 based in the meme meaning is originally a hip hop term for cokehead there was a rapper who started using it the way its used on IBs today and someone popularized that expression on /pol/ later on
Gothic revival is annoying. When something is over, it's over. Why don't they try to create something new instead?
>>11343 Because they're Christians, I guess. There hasn't been an update in 2000 years now.
>>11343 My brother, have you ever been in a brutalist church? I prefer neogothic over these concrete pieces of shit any day.
>>11343 What is your opinion on the renaissance?
>>11345 They're anglicans larpers and Americans for the most part. If they built their churches this way it's for two different but related reasons. One already started to idealize their medieval past early in their Industrial Revolution and the other simply had no monumental architectural history of its own and copied a glorious European past. >>11346 Your loss. I'll probably post good churches I come across implementing cement in their architecture on a dedicated thread later this year.
>>11348 They obviously created something new.
>>11349 Looking forward to it. What do you think of picrel? It's the last concrete hell church I've been to.
Definitely based. I would kind of like to see a 21st century take on it with current gen building materials, light guides and machined ornaments.
>>11351 I like the scale, often churches like this don't seem that big. >>11352 That'd be cool
>>11354 I take it you're familiar with these guys? https://carmelitegothic.com/ https://carmelitegothic.com/cnc-stone-carving/
>>11350 Inspired by something old.

>>11366 I don't mind inspiration, that would be absurd, I mind reiteration. Neoclassical buildings are a bit annoying to me, but classical decorative elements in industrial era buildings are neat. The fetishized gothic architecture is especially annoying to me because it was mostly made by romanticism with the idea of an image of faith rather than with faith.
>>11399 Faith is for the week and cowardly.
>>11402 Then what would fetishizing the weak be?

What does KC think of Mondstadt's Cathedral?
>>11549 I hate weebs so much it’s unreal
>>11552 I wasn't asking about that, you illiterate fool.
>>11399 That is a nice opinion from someone whos cities do not have grounded 80 years ago. You can argue all day how neoclassicalism = poser, I dont know anyone who wouldnt prefer a good looking posercity over the dogshit architecture that we have used for quick rebuilding of cities.
>>11552 its chinese game >>11549 too bulky on pic one, literally looks like a chinese fake. I mean gothic churches all have insane geometric proportions
>>11549 Can you go inside? I'm still mad that the churches in Kuttenberg KC:D2 weren't enterable. In the final DLC we'll get a monastery, at least.
>>11219 >Is it based or cringe? It is much better than current post-modern goyslop architecture without any beauty or vision.
It looks fake, it feels fake. It is fake. You simply cant recreate the aura and feeling of old architecture. Better not even attempt it.
