Euthanasia Bernds, what is your opinion on this. The Hillchurls were cursed by the gods to live in suffering forever but eventually it all becomes to much and they retreat from the light into to the depths to pass away. If there is a 1% chance to save them from the curse then surely that is better than just letting them die? Surely you should take that 1% chance even if they want to die themselves. I think so.
What do I get from saving the Hillchurls? 1% chance of success isn't quite motivating on its own. And what have they done to anger the gods? Maybe they'll be mad at me as well, I really can't have that right now.
>>12147 You're so selfish.... They were a part of an ancient civilisation that challenged the gods and was punished for it, they used to be human.
>>12148 Yeah yeah okay, I can align with that. But there's surely some super sekret mega Hillchurl hoard, or isn't there?
Let them die, life is shit
Do the Hillchurds understand probabilities and do they have all the facts?
>>12151 Maybe, not sure. >>12154 Classic Finn. >>12156 No, I don't think they would understand such things. But this raises the question, can they legally make their own decisions anyway if they have been reduced to simpletons by a curse? They would need a guardian to do it and should a guardian be able to do that?

>>12144 What's the downside to attempting the 1% chance? if there's nothing to be lost by trying it, then, sure, try it. But if failure leads to some worsening of their plight, it's better to let them die.
Bernd has no interest in these artificially constructed strawman ethics problems. Bernd will never be confronted by a trolley problem or someone cursed by the gods in real life. I fully understand what you're driving at, but the example is so oversimplified that it is useless for the assisted suicide discussion.
>>12167 I'm not driving at anything. It's just a thought I had about something that happened in the game I was playing. It's actually the antagonists who want to save the Hillchurls and we stop them, but I would want to save them.
