This is the restaurant https://www.boonnam.fi/ Apparently it is actually merely mentioned in a Michelin guide as a recommended restaurant but no stars awarded. I will not post a picture of my pants
>>20252 >merely mentioned in a Michelin guide knew it >>20250 pretty sure it's the same with these Lithuanian places: just mentioned, no stars I mean star is a big deal for a small country >>20249 it's just what level of Thai food could be in Finland?
>>20253 I thought 1x star is merely "good enough for a gourmet wanker to eat in but not super great" but apparentöy it tales more than that
>>20244 >It looks like cock area and thighs are covered vomit If the vomit is covered I don't see the problem. :3
>>20253 >it's just what level of Thai food could be in Finland? What do you mean? Is there some magical curse covering Finland so one just can't make Thai food in Finland? How does the location of the chef affect the food he makes?
>>20255 >>20260 as I understand it, there are two ways to get stars: - really great chef and actual haute cuisine - some peculiar local cuisine so a generic Thai restaurant in a foreign land doesn't seem to be either you'd get more chances for a star with a Finnish cuisine restaurant. maybe with a twist (like rein deer meat sausages or whatnot) or with everything done to perfection.
>>20263 I still don't understand why you think a Thai restaurant in Finland can't be anything else than generic. What kind of magic makes it so?

>>20263 I see. But it said somewhere one time that the meaning of each star is as follows (as i remember them) 1: an excellent restaurant 2: a restaurant that is worth deviating from your schedule for whem traveling 3: a restaurant worth traveling to for its own sake Apparently the bar for "an excellent restaurant" is sky high
>>20265 >why you think a Thai restaurant in Finland can't be anything else than generic well, it can be a marvel hidden in the Finnish forests but realistically restaurants are businesses first of all, and Michelin starred ones are targeting gourmands - people who can pay $200 for a fancy dish - so reaching very small market isn't that good an idea >>20267 >Apparently the bar for "an excellent restaurant" is sky high something like this
>>20534 Oh I see, so you think Finland is some village of a few backwater hicks with no money at all. You are a complete fool.
>>20534 There indeed are six Michelin star toting restaurants here in Hel, including one two star restaurant There must be some secret society of gourmet nibbas in this shitty that keeps them alive, strange. The meal I had was 102€ (if I iirc) including drinks
>>20591 >Finland is some village of a few backwater the point I'm labouring to make here is that there are more attractive destinations for a Thai restaurant with a celebrity chef >>20611 >six Michelin star toting restaurants here in Hel, including one two star restaurant pretty impressive not joking >The meal I had was 102€ I meant per dish and with a hundred bucks receipt you won't surprise anyone even here
>>20616 >the point I'm labouring to make here Why are you laboring so hard to make a false point? Finland isn't some poor hick village. We do have michelin star restaurants here and plenty of people with money to pay for food but you keep insisting it's impossible to have one here.
>>20664 Singapore with comparable population has 50+ Michelin restaurants dude, Finland is pathetic with its 5 decent places
I thought it would be fun to see what Michelin star restaurants are in my area but apparently they don't cover Australia. Sigh...
>>20724 Finland has c. 600k people per Michelin restaurant, can't be that bad internationally looking at those numbers >>20727 Have they stated any reason why this is the case? t. OP
>>20724 Singapore is a single city. Obviously they will have more restaurants in a city of 6 million. That still doesn't mean that Finland can't have Michelin star restaurants, which we do have. You have no real arguments for claiming we can't have Michelin star restaurants and it seems like you have some kind of ideological or personal hatred of us and a completely false image of our country as some poor hick village where people don't have money to go to a restaurant.
>>20733 I don't really know. It seems like it might just be a cost/effort thing.
>>20733 >can't be that bad internationally looking at those numbers sure unironically I think Moscow didn't even had Michelin restaurants for a long time and those opening were closing quickly cause people just don't have the culture of fancy dining, although Moscow is rich >>20738 >you have some kind of ideological or personal hatred of us and a completely false image of our country as some poor hick village where people don't have money to go to a restaurant ach, Bernd such heated an argument I never ever thought this way. and that jibe previously was just amicable trolling. what I wanted to point out though, is that irl no ethnic restaurants are Michelin starred in Finland not sure if it's a global thing, but seems feasible to me: for Thai food you go to Thailand
>>20782 >what I wanted to point out though, is that irl no ethnic restaurants are Michelin starred in Finland The question wasn't whether they are, but whether they could be and you were clearly of the opinion that it would be impossible for one to be, for which I see absolutely no reason to be the case. Such an opinion implies that no Thai person would ever want to live and have a restaurant in Finland because apparently Finland is a horrible place full of poor people who can't afford to eat in restaurants.
