Do you still buy physical media like CDs, vinyls and DVDs? Could be a nice way to build a collection and get off the internet.
I don't have any hardware for playing discs of any kind
>>20112 You could acquire such hardware
>>20114 i don't like owning too many things and thangs that i rarely use i actually do have some pc vidya discs from the 00s stashed away seems so wrong to throw them away even if i will never use them again
Germany, yes
i've never ever. also i'd never want to leave the internet
>>20124 Why did you mention Germany?
Yes, but only of my one favourite Japanese underground band
I still buy physical media like CDs and DVDs. I have hundreds of both. If I'm going to pay $25 for something, I at least want the '$3 to make' physical copy, not the $0.0001 to store digital. And you avoid the crap where the company with the digital goes under and you have to buy it again from someone else. It's also easier to remember/find physical media. You can see what your looking for right away. With a digital copy, you have to remember you have it, what it's called, where you've stored it, etc. So if I'm in the mood for one hit wonders of the 80s music, all the CDs are together. With digital, I'm jumping around the pc trying to find individual songs downloaded years apart.
>>20126 Because you're a newfag asking dumb questions
It's still big in Japan to do this, but I dont
>>20471 Aren’t you a proxy
>>20110 Yes, vinyls. It's fun to interact with it, and the good sound quality is a nice bonus. If you get into the electronics into it, and if you have a general understanding of how things work, you can tinker with it quite a bit, which is also fun. Per year, I'm getting like 1-5 vinyl records, mostly used ones, but every now and then I'll get a new one.
I collect vinyl. Sadly it's expensive and my collection is still tiny compared to how much I would like to have.
>>20475 Vinyls are dirt cheap if you buy them on flea markets
I buy physical games where I can for consoles. I would like to buy Blue rays of anime at some point but I would like to get the proper Japanese ones so I need to be fluent in Japanese first.
>>20477 Some Japanese Blu-ray’s have English subs, I ordered some from cdjapan.co.jp
>>20479 Hmmm... I'll have to look into that at some point.
>>20110 >Do you still buy physical media like CDs, vinyls and DVDs? Usually no. The last exemption I made was some yaers ago to buy the first album of Heilung because I wanted to support them.
I literally can't watch movies that aren't on DVD. Only if I can’t get a disc with the movie I need do I go to torrent, but this is a rare exception. I used to buy a lot of CDs from all the artists that I liked at that moment. Even if there was only one song on the album that I liked. Now I just don’t see the point in this, I have an MP3 player and it’s easier for me to download a couple of songs than to buy a whole disc. Moreover, the music on the CD is recorded in WAV. But sometimes it’s still nice to load a couple of discs into the music system. In the future, I want to buy only the CDs I am missing for the complete discography of one Belarusian band. That's it

>>20615 >I literally can't watch movies that aren't on DVD. What do you mean you can't? >Moreover, the music on the CD is recorded in WAV. So? It can easily be converted.
>>20110 I used to buy cassettes, but then I took an arrow to the knee I have a newer car and it was updated with a cd player. I have a ghetto blaster cassette deck buried in my shed I should dig out. It’s pretty nice, has the equalizer and all that.
>>20615 It's a tough call to buy a cd if there is only one good song. But the music industry has turned to shit for traditional artists. One cd purchase generates revenue for the artist equal to 3000 to 7000 Spotify streams
I still put my movies and music onto CDs.
>>20110 Oh, absolutely. I must have at least 4000 CDs in my collection and growing. I collect vinyl but place a particular premium on original issues, especially on old Punk or Metal records. Too frequently, those albums are digitally reissued in a lossy manner, so tracking down the original formats and properly ripping them will capture the intended audio fidelity of the original recording.
Yes, I buy 2-3 Blu Rays a year.
Some vidya I buy on physical media because I like to share with my friends.
I occasionally buy (UHD) Blue rays for stuff I really like
Physical media breaks at some point. I have built a collection of digitised content over the last decades. Modern storage technology allows me to carry a good chunk of it with me at all times. I never rely on the internet.

No, i havent bought a CD/DVD in like 10 years. My whole music library is digital, same with my games, Steam and Itunes/amazon music makes physical media redundant. I like it tbh. It was pretty annoying to always need a dvd to play a game, and if you use it too much the dvd gets damaged and you lose the game. Ofcourse it also makes you kinda the slave towards these digital companies. they can take your "licence" or whatever away and your game/music is gone.
No, it only takes up space. I find collecting kind of a depressing thing to do anyway. You just accumulate and then what.
>>21045 But it’s the same with digital files tbh
>>21104 I also think about that. I have several TB of porn that idk why I save
