What was the most kc tier game in history? For me without any doubt C&C generals. They released the source code of it early 2025 so now its getting a little renaissance. Mega lag in online mode still not fixed tho. Sad I think its more fun to watch play 1vs1 than even warcraft 3.
I played Sudden Strike 2 back then, it was very popular in the Germanosphere internet back then I guess. I downloaded some fan made map/mission pack and it was almost all in German, I didn't know any German back then and translation websites didn't exist. >>19892 That as well.

>>19907 I would agree, Hearts of Iron is the most Bernd game. Dwarf Fortress is the most Spede game, however.
>>19986 I still have my original SS and SS2 discs around. Just last year or so I replayed 1. I also made missions myself.
>>20009 yeah I remember the game having a map/mission editor bundled in, but I was too lazy to work it all out.
>>20021 tbf it's one of the worse editors, and sadly due to its niche status nobody ever made a better on
>>20006 EU 5 has them juicy pops, gonna need a new PC
I was terrible at Sudden Strike, so when my clanmate tried to get me into it I went back to Cossacks after a few embarrassing matches. Years later I played the SP campaigns though.
>>20167 tbf, SS1 is hard as balls, though I actually find it easier than Cossacks. Man I should continue with the soviet campaign already
>>20139 even EU3 has pops to some extend but it's nothing if you don't have a proper trading system to simulate demand and supply
So for you guys the most assburger game is the most kc tier one, right? I chose generals due to it being the most provocative, unsensitive to current events and cultures involved game there ever was. Back in 2003 and before EA was edgy as fuck, they also made the STRIKE series.
>>20239 True. If I remember correctly it was censored into oblivion for the German market so everyone had to get an UK version or uncensor patch.
>>20240 Its also banned in china. But yea in Germany it was one of the few games that got INDIZIERT even tho it was usk 16 at first.
>>20240 >>20243 But didn't ACH get the proper PAL versions? I distinctly remember people importing from Austria and Switzerland. I, myself, got Perfect Dark from some relatives visiting someone in Switzerland.
>>20254 It was a PC game. I don't think there ever was any special A/CH localisations for games, they probably got the normal English version from there though.
I heckin love the graphics and sound style of C&C 1 (Tiberian Dawn). It has IMO aged really well, too - I didn't expect that at the time. Only the CGI FMV sequences have not aged well. The parts with actors are alright, especially with General Sheppard. Doom has also aged surprisingly well. It was a generally acknowledged instant classic at the time, and it is a classic now. (I still play both games occasionally. OG C&C but in SVGA resolution and Doom with modern engines, recently mostly with the Brutal Doom mod.)
>>20279 >Brutal Doom Bernd is here Nice. What do you listen to while bashing monsters' heads in? :3
>>20292 The original game music? It's good.
>>20257 Intredasting. If the game is banned in D, do the studios consider a German localisation for the smaller ACH-Market? But then they have to show the non-localized game to the censor station. That would be weird.
>>19892 Due to this post I reinstalled Cossacks: Back to War. Didn't play it play for more than 10 years. It runs smoothly with https://www.moddb.com/games/cossacks-back-to-war/downloads/cnc-ddraw and the right settings on Windows 11. Even on 1920x1080. It really is such a fun game :3 thx Bernd
>>20413 Say, are you homo-austria in disguise? Because thinking that playing Doom with this is in any way better or badass is about the gayest thing imaginable (though you already implied you play Brutal Doom).
https://www.gog.com/forum/cossacks_series/ultimate_pack_for_back_to_war_by_pisces72/page1 This mod includes the European War and Art of War Campaign into Back to War. Awesome It's in english tho.
Algeria seems to be OP in Cossacks: Back to war early game. I've thought Ukraine is stronk but Algeria shits out units with their barrack in 0,2 seconds. Hilarious to rush AI. Now I try extrem hard mode.
>>20546 Yes, they are the equivalent of Starcraft zergs, the Indians in American Conquest too. The best experience for MP matches or against bots is to set up a peace time timer of 45 minutes or more, then everyone builds up their economy and town and you get a big battle when it runs out.
>>20466 >>20564 I agree, it's also looks GenA-game levels of annoying. But I go even further: Fuck mods in general (not you mods, I mean game mods). GenA is like "HOLY FUCK a new game, lets fucking destroy it with shitty ass mods and cheats at release day because I'm a full fucking retard." No respect for games and their original vision. I accept graphic or sound improving mods (like for the original Oblivion, or Doom 3), but fuck off modding weeb shit into your games.
>>20569 >But I go even further: Fuck mods in general (not you mods, I mean game mods). Hard disagree here, mods can improve good games and keep them fresh and salvage games with lackluster vanilla (Skyrim, KSP).

>>20608 Yeah it depends. For most graphic "improvement" mods I completely agree with him. I usually hate remasters too.
>>20609 here we have an already great vidya that is greatly inproved by mods
>>20614 Never tried those mods.
>>20612 tbf "graphics improvement" mods are usually just some teenager's shitty reshade settings, which are hardly comparable to actual mods
>>20608 Hey, Skyrim didn't have a lackluster vanilla. It was great for a 2011 game! It's vanilla was just overplayed and outdated, and was never as good as its hype and reputation. KSP, on the other hand... yeah that is an indie game with a limited scope.
>>20638 >It was great for a 2011 game! lol, lmao even
>>20642 It was as good as Batman Arkham City, Portal 2, Mass Effect 2, Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, or any of the other big 2011 games. Of course, all of those games were outdated in 5 years and obsolete in 10 but Skyrim limped on like a zombie because no sequel was made.
>>20645 No way should it be compared to KSP which is an indie game with minimal vanilla.
>>20645 >Of course, all of those games were outdated in 5 years and obsolete in 10 How does a game get obsolete? And if it does get obsolete, it wasn't very good to begin with.
>>20638 For the RPG grognards both Oblivion and Skyrim were major disappointments compared to what they did before and I hate what Bethesda has done to Fallout. I'm glad that Starfield failed and hope that they finally get rid of that fool Pagliarulo for TES VI. That said, there are some really amazing mods for Skyrim that give it more depth for roleplay, you just need to sift through the gazillion of sex mods to find them.
>>20649 Without those sex mods, Skyrim would be entirely forgotten by now
>>20649 >what they did before Look, I will admit Morrowind was the best of the series. But Morrowind specifically had the best worldbuilding and magic. Oblivion had the best quests. Skyrim had the best swordplay. Don't pretend like the swordplay in Morrowind wasn't running back and forth while stabbing. Or that the quests weren't "Find Fast Eddy" and no clear marker on the map to show where Fast Eddie is. Oblivion's swordplay was better... but its difficulty settings made it very difficult to kill anything unless you exploit.
>>20652 Betwenn Morrowind and Oblivion a game called Dark Messiah came out and it basically showed everyone how to do stuff.
>>20652 True, but since I generally play a full mage in TES I don't much care about the melee, and the lack of those markers made for much more rewarding exploration. In Oblivion it's obvious they tried to be very creative with the quests, but it doesn't matter much to me if the world is just so incredibly dull and unconvincing so I finished it once and never touched it again. Anyway, I would say that these days modded Skyrim actually has the best wizard experience with mods like Apocalypse Spells, Obscure's College of Winterhold, College Quest expansion and Ordinator Perk Overhaul. Fucking around with stuff like Illusion is now incredibly fun. But they'll probably never make a world as captivating as Morrowind again, even mods can't help in that regard. TES Nords are just so boring and uninspired.
>>20652 >Skyrim had the best swordplay. Iesou Xristo, please replay Skyrim
>>20642 Skyrim was very good, all the butthurt towards it is just delusional oldfaggism from the fans of the earlier games
>>20673 What was good about Skyrim? It was certainly not the story, or the graphics, or the gameplay or the quests or....
>>20674 Skyrim had the best swordplay in the series easily. Every other game in the series has broken swordplay in some fashion. Archery also worked way better in Skyrim than any other game in the series. In Oblivion everything could shake off damage left and right while in Morrowind you had one shot then you had to switch to your dagger. The world in Skyrim was fine. It wasn't empty like Oblivion and Daggerfall. The Quests in Skyrim were fine. They weren't as good as Oblivion but they were better on average than Morrowind or Daggerfall. There were numerous nice touches that added a lot to Skyrim. Dragons, Blackreach, Werewolves, shouts, the Civil War, religion, daedra, guilds etc... Some of this wasn't fleshed out properly (ahem Bards Guid!!) but there were multiple attempts to expand on the world to keep players interested. All in all... I agree it's not the best elder scrolls game in the series. Morrowind is. But I disagree with these arguments that it was the worst. It was a fine 2011 game that did a lot right and stayed popular a looong time. Skyrim is easily better than Oblivion, which had the misfortune of having bad combat, a bad leveling system, and an even more bland world and main quest. The only thing Oblivion has over Skyrim is a lot of the quests are simply better.
I played Skyrim on console so only played the vanilla. I like the open world nature of it but not much else. It's fine I guess. Mount and Blade games are good with mods as you get complete overhauls that change what setting the game is in. Other than that I don't really bother with mods.
