This weeks winner winner is "King Khan & BBQ Show - Invisible Girl"
Good album.
Due to a lack of interest, "The Coffinshakers" has been removed from the program for the time being.
New in the poll:
Songhoy Blues - Résistance (2017)
Desert Blues.
A while back we had the Album "Kel Tamasheq" by the band "Terakaft" on the stream, which had the same Genre.
Desert Blues has an incredibly interesting history. In the 1980s, Muammar Gaddafi recruited numerous Tuareg as mercenaries, and as nomadic people, the Tuareg had their first real contact with Western music in the military training camps. The first bands that were called "Desert Blues" often consisted of Tuareg who had met in such a camp.
While Songhoy Blues is also categorized as Desert Blues, the members themselves are not Tuareg but Malians and the people they belong to are called Songhoy. The Songhoy are a minority in Mali. Their first album was called Music In Exile and was released after the group fled their hometown because the Islamist movement "Ansar Dine" took over Timbuktu during the Mali War, in which the Tuareg were also involved.
I started reading and it just went on and on and on and there's no end in sight. It's nice that Europe is so simple.
Apart from an Iggy Pop feature, the album's lyrics are in the Songhoy language.
Good album
